{"id":2984,"date":"2022-12-19T14:31:02","date_gmt":"2022-12-19T14:31:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fpgonline.co.uk\/?p=2984"},"modified":"2023-09-19T09:47:16","modified_gmt":"2023-09-19T09:47:16","slug":"the-ups-and-downs-of-the-mortgage-market","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fpgonline.co.uk\/index.php\/the-ups-and-downs-of-the-mortgage-market\/","title":{"rendered":"The Ups And Downs Of The Mortgage Market"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"\">Last week we saw the Bank of England increases its base lending rate by 0.5% to 3.5% \u2013 it was the ninth time in a year that the Bank had increased rates after it first lifted them to 0.25% from 0.1% in December 2021.<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">However, on the same day, some mortgage lenders reduced fixed rate home loans, which many industry analysts saw as a correction from an over reaction from lenders after September\u2019s failed \u2018mini budget\u2019.<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">For example, five year fixed rates were around 4% prior to the Truss-Kwerteng bombshell \u2013 they spiked up to around 5.5% within a few days, however, despite the base lending rate having risen further in that time, a five year deal is now 4.49%.
