According to the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, Robert Jenrick, the property market will stay open during England’s second lockdown which is due to come into effect on Thursday and set to last until at least December 2nd.

In a series of social media posts, Jenrick explained; “The housing market will remain open throughout this period…” and that, “Tradespeople like electricians, plumbers, repairers of domestic appliances can enter your home. They will need to follow social distancing guidance that has already been published.”

The Financial Conduct Authority is  also updating its support for borrowers impacted by coronavirus following the government’s announcement on Saturday of a new national lockdown.

Mortgage borrowers who have not yet had a payment deferral can request one for up to six months.

Borrowers who already have a payment holiday for less than six months will be able to extend it. The maximum payment deferral remains at six months.
